A side table is a practical piece of furniture for living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, offices, or entrance areas. Most commonly, it is used in the living room to provide an additional surface next to the main coffee table. In small living rooms, a side table is often used as a flexible piece of furniture that can be quickly moved out of the way and replaces a larger coffee table.
The side table is usually taller than a coffee table and offers storage space for books, magazines, cosmetics, or flowers and decorative elements.
Side tables can be used universally in all rooms and usually fulfill a decorative as well as a functional purpose.
In the living room, next to the sofa or an armchair, for placing snacks and drinks or as an additional surface for decoration, vases, or plants.
In the bathroom, next to the bathtub, for needed bath utensils or cosmetics; in the hallway for anything that needs to be close at hand, such as keys, garage openers, etc.
In the bedroom or guest room, a side table can also serve as a substitute for a bedside table, and in the study next to the desk, as an additional surface for coffee or office supplies that are not constantly needed.
Side tables are lightweight and can therefore be quickly and flexibly placed and removed in a room. They offer storage and surface space for every purpose. As an additional decorative piece of furniture, wooden side tables with a live edge or made from tree slices can be used, or a set of coffee tables of different heights that can be nested to save space when needed. Besides wood, materials such as glass, metal, or even plastic are often used for side tables, so that the right side table can be found for every room's decor.
