Coffee table

A coffee table is essential for every living room and for other common areas with armchairs or seating groups. It serves as a place to put drinks and snacks consumed while watching TV in the evening or chatting with friends and family.

However, it can also be an eye-catcher in the living room with appropriate decorative elements, especially if it has an unusual shape or an individual table edge in the form of a live edge. Of course, you can also place games, books or remote controls on it and have these items always at hand. A sofa table should definitely not only be functional, but also look good and match the rest of the living room decor.

There are many different types of coffee tables, which usually have one thing in common: they are significantly lower than a normal table, because armchairs and sofas are also lower than normal chairs for, for example, a dining table. The seating height on the sofa should be the same as or slightly higher than the table itself. And a distance of approx. 45 cm between the table and the couch is recommended to be able to get up comfortably and still have the table within reach.

Coffee tables are often made of wood, with tabletops, possibly additional shelves and frames made of wood or metal, but there are also glass tables and metal coffee tables - the right piece of furniture for every interior style. Combinations of different materials are also very popular for these living room tables; usually a wooden tabletop is combined with a metal frame, resulting in a modern and timeless piece of furniture. Sofa tables with a naturally curved edge, so-called live edge tables, are becoming increasingly popular, even in living areas.

In addition to the height, the length and width are also important factors for a coffee table. The table should be adapted in its format and shape to the living room landscape, meaning that for large sofas, the coffee table can also be a bit larger, but for two-seaters or armchairs, it should not be chosen too large, as this quickly appears bulky. In terms of shape, you usually have a square tabletop, with or without a shelf or additional drawers, but there are also round, triangular or multi-sided tables - a wide selection for every taste and furnishing style.

Another important criterion when choosing a coffee table is the type of table legs. There are models with four legs, U-shaped legs, or X-shaped leg frames. Depending on the shape of the table frame, the table then appears more rustic, modern, technical, or classic.

The coffee table is definitely an important part of the living area and plays a major role in complementing the living room furniture. Therefore, when making a new purchase, you should always place the sofa and armchairs first, and then choose the right table to match.
