Curved tabletop edge

A curved table edge is becoming increasingly common on dining tables, as well as on coffee tables, office desks, and conference room tables. Unlike straight-cut table edges, the curved table edge is always different, making each table unique.
With this edge shape, the table edge corresponds to the natural longitudinal growth of the tree. Tables with such a natural table edge are called live edge tables.

To create such a curved table edge, the boards are cut lengthwise, the bark and outer bark are removed, and the relatively smooth growth layer of the tree is cut and sanded according to the outer edge of the original tree.

Normally, the typical live edge (as these curved table edges are called) is left on the long sides of the tables, while the end faces are worked straight. However, there are also live edge tables with live edges all around.
Due to the different growth of each tree, each live edge table has a different shape, grain, and coloring, making it unique – just like every tree in nature.

The use of boards with curved table edges is possible not only for table tops but also for other furniture pieces such as shelves, cabinets, and chests of drawers.
For the tabletop, in addition to the type of wood and grain, the thickness is also a criterion. The thicker the curved tabletop, the more effective the live edge appears. Most of these tabletops are therefore between 25 and 50 mm thick, making the table robust and at the same time naturally beautiful.
